Jonah's prayer
Jonah 2:1–9
Out of the belly of the fish, out of the belly of Shaawal, a prayer that ends in a vow: salvation is of Yahawah.
1 WaYaManah (And prepared) Yahawah () Dag (fish) Gadawal (very great/important/mighty) LaBalai (to swallow up) Ath (the entirety of) Yawanah (Jonah), WaYaHayah (and came to pass) Yawanah (Jonah) BaMaihay (in belly) HaDag (the fish) Shalawashah (three) Yawamayam (days) WaShalawashah (and three) Layalawath (nights).
2 WaYaThaPalal (And [reflexive] prayed) Yawanah (Jonah) Al (to) Yahawah (), Alahayam (God), MaMaihay (from belly) HaDagah (the fish's).
3 WaYaAmar (And he said), “Qaraathay (called) MaTzarah (because affliction) Lay (for me) Al (to) Yahawah (). WaYaInahay (and he answered me). MaBatan (out of belly) shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) Shawaithay (cried). Shamaith (you heard) Qawalay (my voice).
4 WaThaShalayakay (And you threw me) Matzawalah (depths), BaLabab (in heart) Yamayam (seas). WaNahar (flood) YaSababay (around me). Kal (every) Mashabarayak (your billows) WaGalayak (and your waves) Ilay (went up me) Ibaraw (passed over).
5 WaAnay (And I / Me) Amarathay (said/spoke), ‘NaGarashathay (Drive out / expel / divorce) MaNagadaIyanayak (from banished your sight); Ak (Surely) AYawasayap (again / another) LaHaNabayat ([causing] look) Al-Hayakal (to temple) Qadashak (again your holy).’
6 Apapaway (𐤀𐤐𐤐 me) Mayam (waters) Id (surrounded), Napash (soul). Thahawam (the deep/primordial abyss) YaSababay (around me). Sawap (weeds) Chabawash (wrapped around) LaRaashay (my head).
7 LaQatzabay (To bottoms) Harayam (mountains) Yaradathay (descend / lower). HaAratz (the earth) Barayachayah (her barred) Baiday (𐤁𐤏𐤃 me) LaIwalam (forever): WaThaIlah (and you brought up) MaShachath (from pit), Chayay (my life) Yahawah () Alahayam (God).
8 “BaHathaItap (In [reflexive] fainted) Ilay (within me), Napashay (my soul) Ath (the entirety of) Yahawah () Zakarathay (remembered). WaThaBawaa (and you came), Alayak (to you) Thapalahathay (my prayer) Al-Hayakal (to temple) Qadashak (your holy).
9 MaShamarayam (Regard - plural) Habalay (vanities) Shawaa (vanity) Chasadam (their own mercy) YaIzabaw (forsake).
